Bram has swum in this stretch of river every week for eleven years, in all weathers, which Sorrel considered a serious character flaw for the first two years and a virtue ever since. The ceremony is on the bank. Some of us will end up in the water.
The track down to the meadow is rough and unlit — there is a minibus running from the top gate all afternoon and evening. Camping in the top field for anyone who wants it.
