They drove out here on a whim in 2019, ran out of petrol, and had to be rescued by a woman named Bird who now owns the venue. Everything about the last seven years has followed roughly that pattern.

Desert formal in warm earth tones. It is 34°C at five and 9°C by midnight — this is not an exaggeration, bring a proper layer. Boots or flats; the wash is loose sand and stone.

Palm Springs is an hour, LA about three. The last two miles are dirt road — fine in a normal car, slowly. There is no phone signal at the ranch and no streetlights, so download directions before you leave the highway. Cabins on site, and Yucca Valley has motels twenty minutes back.
